Pokémon is officially headed back to Gamescom this year, joining industry giants like Nintendo and Capcom at Europe’s biggest gaming convention. The event will run from August 20 to 24 at the Koelnmesse convention center in Cologne, Germany, and marks a major moment for the franchise as it gears up for the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Although details about Pokémon’s exact plans at Gamescom remain under wraps, the timing is key. Legends: Z-A launches globally on October 16, bringing players back to Lumiose City in the Kalos region—the setting from Pokémon X and Y. The game will spotlight Zygarde and reintroduce Mega Evolution as its primary battle mechanic, while also promising faster, more dynamic combat than ever before in the series.

This year’s Gamescom appearance comes amid a packed calendar for The Pokémon Company. A new Pokémon Presents livestream is already scheduled for July 22, set to air on both Twitch and YouTube, and will likely give fans a deeper look at Legends: Z-A and potentially other surprises like the still-in-development Pokémon Champions.

For now, fans can expect Pokémon to be part of a massive Gamescom lineup that includes first-time returns and major reveals. Nintendo, who skipped last year’s expo, is also confirmed to attend—raising expectations for one of the most exciting Gamescom events in recent years.

Stay tuned as we bring you live updates from Gamescom, the Pokémon Presents showcase, and everything else happening in the world of gaming this summer.
