Death Stranding 2’s ‘I Won’t Do It’ Dialogue Is a Classic Kojima Gag Hidden in Plain Sight

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Death Stranding 2 opens with a cheeky little twist that’s got fans buzzing — a dialogue option that looks serious, but turns out to be a harmless (and very Kojima) Easter egg.

Right at the start, when Fragile (played by Léa Seydoux) asks Sam (Norman Reedus) to join the group known as Drawbridge, you’re given the choice to say no. And if you keep refusing? The game pulls a Groundhog Day–style loop, replaying the scene again and again as you stubbornly select “I won’t do it.” Eventually, though, the game stops humoring you and pushes the story forward.

This early choice doesn’t end the game or cut off progression like you might expect from similar moments in games like Far Cry. It’s a safe, tongue-in-cheek moment — pure Kojima — that lets you have a little fun before things get serious.

Check out the video below to see exactly what happens when you keep turning Fragile down.
